I was waiting for bus 188 when I saw this advertisement of “Yellow Ribbon project”. I am particularly attracted to anything with regards to the “Yellow Ribbon” as I was involved in a number of them during my NP days. As I analyzed the poster, I realize it was an excellent poster which carried an important message but due to the poor layout, it failed to strike an impression! Unlike the recent “Quit helpline” smoking ads. What a let down!!
The good:
1. Excellent color theme- yellow and black never fails
2. Catchy title- Short, straight to the point
3. Great message- “Inspiring youth” – never too late to change
The bad:
1. Wrong focus-Pictures have more impact than words. I believe it would have been better if the photo was the main subject instead of the title ” EX – DRUG…”
2. The upcoming project details in the bottom half were over elaborated. It should have been more concise
3. Should follow the rule of 1/3 in photography
